I have been working with Silk and many different kind of fabrics since the last six years, which gave me a lot of experience in fabric and textile paintings. On the other hand, I was so fortunate to learn the Silk painting techniques from one of the best Textile artists, art teacher John Martono. You can view his works on his website. Beside from having that privilege, I also did a lot of study and experiments on my own, therefore I know exactly how it feels to start your Silk painting process. Very often, you don’t know where to begin and what are the best colors or materials to choose from. In the past three years of teaching Silk painting, I have received many questions from my students in which the most common one is: “What are the differences between silk dyes and silk paints?” Today, I am going to share with you some of the information to clarify your understanding. I hope this topic is useful for you, and that it has enriched your knowledge of painting on Silk, particularly on how to choose Silk dyes or Silk paints for your work.
This is truly a beautiful technique, I encourage you to try and start your Silk painting journey and create unique items that you cannot find in the market. To learn more, you can sign up for my Silk painting classes. Let me know if you have a question, kindly fill in the contact form and I will get back to you as soon as possible, or I might even write another blog to answer your question. Thank you for your time and I hope to hear from you all.
